Courtesy Visit by a delegation of the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University, China (May 11, 2018)
A delegation from the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University visited the Graduate School of Engineering. The delegation was headed by Vice Dean, Prof. Xiaohao Wang accompanied by three respected people.
Kyoto University and Tsinghua University commenced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in May, 1998. Under the umbrella of the comprehensive MOU, the Graduate School of Engineering and Graduate School at Shenzhen have actively enhanced academic exchanges.
Above all, there are two remarkable points about this agreement. One of them is the JSPS core university project named “Urban Environmental Engineering”. This project was launched in 2001 in partnership with Tsinghua University and is conducted for a decade. The other is one of our overseas bases, Cooperative Research and Education Center for Environmental Technology(CRECET) on a campus of the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University, established on October 1, 2005. They put this base to practical use as a research hub.
CRECET celebrated the tenth anniversary of its establishment and held a symposium at Kyoto University in October 2015.
They took this opportunity to make a courtesy visit to Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering on May 11. Prof. Wang extended his thanks to Dean, Prof. Masahiro Ohshima for the collaborative project and fostering of young researchers in the field of environmental engineering which has been conducted for over many years. Prof. Hiroaki Tanaka, Director of the CRECET (Kyoto University side) and Director of the Research Center for Environmental Quality Management, and Prof. Masaki Takaoka, Head of Department of Environmental Engineering, joined the meeting. Then, they discussed mutual and specific interests with other concerned researchers for the purpose of promoting academic exchange.
The Memorandum between the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University and the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University is scheduled to be renewed next March.
